What's the difference between an English speaker struggling to translate Japanese and a Japanese speaker?

How could you really tell if English is their original language and they can't translate Japanese or Japanese is their original language and yet they can't translate Japanese into English? I'm wondering if there's a way to tell because the languages are entirely different. English is a Germanic language and I figured out that Japanese was actually a Rukuon language. What if it's both? I'm learning my Japanese separately but I learned my German with my English. But if it's both like you can hardly translate Spanish into Japanese for example because your Japanese is a bit rusty and you can't understand the Spanish and you can't translate Japanese into Spanish because you picked up a lot of Japanese words you don't know from lyrics and still don't know the Spanish and the anime. Now is there a way to be able to tell that apart or no? What about the first? There is no difference between an English speaker struggling to translate Japanese into English and a Japanese speaker struggling to translate English into Japanese. Both languages are equally difficult for the non-native speaker because they're so highly unrelated.





My question to you is, can't you tell which speaker is the native English speaker and which is the native Japanese speaker by just looking at the text? Wouldn't the translated text will be in the targeted language?





Anyway, one possible way to tell which their native language is, if the translator has done a poor job of translating the language it can show in the grammatical construction of the translated script. English has a Subject-Verb-Object type of construction while Japanese has a Subject-Object-Verb construction, for example. Billy (subject) threw (verb) the ball (object). In Japanese it would be Billy the ball threw.





Also, Japanese is not a Ryukyuan (Rukuon) language. Ryukyuan is a sub-family of Japanese and categorizes certain dialects such as Okinawan, but does not include standard Japanese.
