i need a website that will translate english words into japanese but not only in the japanese alphabet. Also does anyone know a site to tell me about the basics of the language?|||http://kanjidict.stc.cx/ is a good site for getting katakana/hiragana, as well as kanji.

Whatever you do, DON'T try babelfish or any other on-line translation engine for anything larger than one word at a time...!! If you don't know why I'm so vehement, try pasting some Japanese text into them and getting it translated into English - total gobbledygook! It works just the same the other way, because English and Japanese have completely different grammar, and translation engines can't adjust for that.
