I need to easily be able to translate japanese to english?

so i like the Tales Of series but im playing tales of hearts and well..... i really have no idea on how to translate japanese at all! i can write it and stuff but *sigh* how should i put this lets say there is some word and it is fjnsfjln lol at gibberish and im like "oh i can write that" but later on i have no idea what it means later! cause i cant translate it help plz!|||Knowing your alphabet doesn't mean you can read, unfortunately. Effective translation requires fluency, and fluency takes time. There isn't really an easy trick to it. :(
